Trout Stocking Resumes at Colorado River

Trout stocking will begin this week at Colorado River bellow Davis Dam.

The fishing has been good bellow Davis Dam. Expect to catch some nice stripers and large catfish in the Big Bend area.

At Davis Camp some nice smallmouth are being caught.

At Topock Gorge smallmouth, largemouth and striped bass are all being caught.

Fall Fishing at Colorado River: Parker Strip

Smallmouth bass are expected to be good this fall. Size range is over 2 pounds.

Redear sunfish should be good with 1 pound plus sizes.

Channel and flathead catfish are always good in the section of the river.

Striped bass should be fair. Fish bellow the dam with anchovies.

Colorado River Fishing Picking Up

Water release from Paker dam has dropped off and the fishing has picked up. Parker Strip on the Colorado River, smallmouth bass have been biting, bulking up for the colder winter months.

Try crank baits with shad colors (black and white).

Smallmouth bass can be found throughout the Parker Strip and down river and prefer the rokier shorlines.

Catfish are also biting but only at first light or early evening. They have slowed for the cooler weather. Try night crawlers, goldfish and sunfish.

Trout are biting big on the Colorado River at Casino Row in Laughlin/Bullhead City.

Fall Fishing at Colorado River: Picacho State Park

Largemouth bass, channel catfish, flathead catfish are all expected to be fair to good.

Sizes range from 5 pounds for bass and channel catfish then upto 40 pounds for flathead catfish.

You can also expect to catch bluegill, and striped bass.

Fall Fishing at Colorado River: Walter’s Camp

Both largemouth bass and smallmouth bass fishing is expected to be fair in this area. Look for the largemouth to be in the backwater and the smallmouth in the channel.

Channel and flathead catfish should be fair to good. Flathead sizes range from 2 to 5 pounds with an occasional fish over 30 pounds.

Best time to for catfish is in the evening to midnight.
