Tricking a zoom worm will work well right now as the spawn dies down. The bass will begin to come off their beds and will be more aggressive and hit this rig even better. This rig will work in both ponds and lakes.
What is a Zoom Worm?
A zoom worm is a straight worm about 7 inches long and they come in several colors like chartreuse, yellow, white and in natural colors as well.
Rigging your zoom worm
You rig your zoom worm with no weight and you fish it almost like a topwater lure. You can tie the hook directly to the line or put it on a swivel about 6 inches above the hook. The swivel will help keep your line from twisting as you retrieve.
Tricking your zoom worm
As you retrieve your zoom worm, you want to twitch them. This will cause the worm to jump back and forth.
One technique that I’ve found most effective is to twitch them just under the surface. Then pause and let the worm sink.

Water levels are up at Lake Mead but the fishing is only fair.
The stripers are relativly quiet but you might hook one with anchovies and if you fish bellow 40feet. The stripers that are being caught are a nice size and healthy.
Some largemouth bass are biting along with crappie.
Night fishing is a popular sport at Lake Mead, especially for striped bass. Get out on the lake at about 5pm with artificial lights.

Lake Mead water levels have held strong through the summer and the water elevation is around 1100 feet.
Night fishing for stripers seems to be the best option right now. Anglers are using artificial lights and are catching as many stripers as they want to clean, most ranging in the 12-18 inches.
The lights are also helping anglers catch catfish, use anchovies.
For best results: Get out on the lake in the evening with some artificial lights.

Get out to Lake Mead. The stripers are all biting and biting well. Most are ranging between 13 to 18 inches and anglers are leaving with their limit. The limit being how many fish you want to clean.
The catfish are also doing well. Try anchovies. The full moon is the 19th so trolling with crank baits during the day will get better and better.

- drain and dry your livewell and bilge on land
- drain all the water you can from your engine
- inspect your vessel and trailer for visible mussels
- remove any visible mussels
- feel for and remove any rough or gritty spots on the hull (young mussels that can be hard to see)
